What to build: HTML & CSS website inspirations

If you are lost and not sure what to build. Here is a process that might help you get creative.

Step 1: Who is it for

Think about who you want to build it for first. A few ideas here:

  1. Yourself

  2. Your friend/family

  3. Your pet

  4. If none of the above interests you, maybe a celebrity you really like? Some K-Pop star?

  5. Or something you are really into, I once wanted to make a website for tinned tuna because I liked it so much that I was having it every single day for a year.

Step 2: What is the feel of it

Once you decided what the subject is, the next question is what do you want the site to feel like, here are some options again:

  1. Funny. I always go for funny, pointless but funny. Nothing beats going overboard for a joke.

  2. Professional. Use this opportunity to build your personal website that doesn't look like anyone else.

  3. Informative. If you have something to say, say it in your own unique and creative way.

Step 3: Browse online to find some inspiration

https://www.lingscars.com/

This one is my all-time favourite. There is so much we can learn from it. The late 90s design, the animation... if you have no idea what to build, you will find something on there.

https://nicole.pizza/

I like the design of this site, especially the flying pizza.

https://www.aakankshamirdha.com/

If you are looking for something simple, draw something simple and add a few paragraphs and you have a page.

https://cat-bounce.com/

Not much to say about this one, pointless but looks pretty cool.

Step 4: Gather some photos/videos of your subject and get your hands dirty

Chat with people at your table about your ideas and help each other out.
